Facility Rental
Cedar Ridge Camp is excited to announce the expansion of horseback riding to the 2010 summer camp program. Originally a farm, the old Cedar Ridge site included a barn and acres of pasturage. These facilities have been renovated and modernized to accommodate a resident pod of horses and a growing equestrian program. Riders will enjoy exploring our extensive network of trails as well as swimming on horseback in Lake Wannamaker.
Campers are taught basic riding skills as well as horsemanship and stable management appropriate for their age and experience. Returning campers or individuals with riding experience are also instructed in basic equine anatomy, first aid and more advanced riding techniques.
The Riding Program at Cedar Ridge boasts a highly qualified and experienced staff with expertise in many forms of competitive riding including Hunter/Jumper, Dressage and Western Reining. The equestrian program has been developed and is administered by EQUINE Canada Certified Instructor Owen Stibbard in association with EQUINE Canada Certified Coach Chanda Burke.
Equestrian LIT Program.
The equestrian LIT program is run in conjunction with the standard LIT program, with an emphasis on horse-related knowledge and skills and is a stepping stone on the road between camper and staff. In addition to extensive leadership and interpersonal skill development, LITs will receive instruction in all aspects of stable management, horsemanship and program-design and will play integral roles in the implementation of the equestrian program.
Contact the Cedar Ridge office for more information on registering for the Equestrian LIT program.
